Best practicesWhy pair Odoo with Recovr: the winning combination for automated invoice follow-up

Odoo is known for being powerful and modular, and for covering a wide range of business processes. But like any horizontal ERP, it can't meet every business need in the same depth.

In this article, we talk with Guillaume Roisin, founder of Sigmagency (an Odoo partner), about the natural limits of a general-purpose ERP… and the cases where connecting a specialized vertical solution saves time and improves efficiency and visibility.

🎙️Guillaume, could you briefly introduce Sigmagency and your Odoo-centric approach?

(Guillaume)
At Sigmagency (an Odoo partner), we support SMEs through their digital transformation with a 360° view. Our core business is making Odoo the company's command center, to optimize processes (sales, purchasing, logistics, accounting, etc.) and bring all the tools together (ERP, e-commerce, website, external applications). In practice, we design an integrated ecosystem that centralizes data and automates management, for greater reliability, productivity and visibility.

🎙️What are Odoo's strengths and weaknesses, and what do you bring as an integrator?

(Guillaume)
Odoo is a powerful, modular tool, but it's deliberately generic: it has to work for every type of company. In practice, it covers about 80% of standard needs. The remaining 20% need to be tailored to each client's business, processes and goals. That's exactly where we come in: scoping and process design, custom modules, bespoke development (portals, e-commerce, applications), integrations with external software, and change management to make sure the team actually adopts it. Our added value is turning a business goal into an Odoo solution that truly works and stands the test of time.

🎙️Odoo has some native features for accounts receivable and automated reminders. What's the benefit of combining Odoo and Recovr?

(Guillaume)
Odoo handles the accounting side of receivables and simple reminders very well. But it isn't designed to be dedicated collections software. As soon as you need detailed segmentation, complex workflows, dispute management or a way to measure how well your reminders perform, the value of a specialized tool like Recovr becomes obvious. Odoo remains the source of truth (customers, invoices, payments, accounting), and Recovr runs the advanced reminder workflows, prioritization, account follow-up and dedicated accounts receivable KPIs.

(Alessandro)
Honestly, we're not trying to rebuild Odoo; we're extending it. Odoo remains the accounting backbone and the source of truth. Recovr connects to it to orchestrate accounts receivable: deciding who to follow up with, through which channel, with which message and how to escalate if needed, all in a way that stays very simple for the team.

Once you go beyond “basic” reminders, Odoo reaches its limits: detailed segmentation, workflows that adapt to payment behavior, dispute management, broken promises to pay and so on. That's where Recovr comes in. We bring:

  • no-code workflows (by customer type, invoice type or risk level),
  • multichannel reminders (email, phone calls by your team or by AI voice agents, standard letters and registered letters/formal notices),
  • a one-click legal handoff to bailiffs, lawyers and partners, with no re-keying,
  • a built-in inbox that keeps all emails and attachments in one place,
  • and real-time KPIs (AR aging, DSO, reminder effectiveness, cash forecast).

The integration is smooth: through Sigmagency, we sync customers, invoices and payments from Odoo and send the statuses (reminder, dispute, legal action) to Recovr. The result: the team keeps working in Odoo for accounting and relies on Recovr as the execution engine for its reminders. More cash collected, less friction.

🎙Which companies get the most out of Odoo + Recovr?

(Guillaume)
Odoo + Recovr is a good fit for companies with a significant invoice volume that want to run their reminders at scale and have dedicated accounts receivable software, and for companies dealing with recurring disputes. For them, centralizing follow-up brings an immediate cash benefit without adding to the finance team's workload.

(Alessandro)
As complexity grows, specialization pays off. In practice, you quickly see the difference from around a hundred invoices a month, or as soon as several roles are involved (finance, sales admin and sales reps, sometimes management). B2B companies that offer payment terms, face recurring disputes or have multi-entity or multi-country setups also have a lot to gain.

What changes day to day: every morning, the team gets a prioritized to-do list, workflows that adapt to risk and payment behavior, clean handling of exceptions (pauses, disputes, promises to pay) and smooth legal escalation when needed. The results we see most often: a 30 to 50% reduction in DSO within 3 to 6 months and 50 to 80% less time spent on manual reminders.
In short: Odoo stays the backbone, and Recovr provides driver assistance for collections.

For us, Odoo is a central back end, a toolbox. When a feature is too limited, we'd rather plug in a strong vertical solution than build everything ourselves.Guillaume Roisin, founder of Sigmagency, Odoo integrator and partner
